MATHS GUIDES

CD:ROM

The Times Education Series Maths Key Stage 3

This CD ROM was recommended by our friend Christine. She said that it was easy to set up and the kids got started about 10 minutes after she opened the box. Its written by teachers so it covers all the National Curriculum and the production is great. It includes SAT tests and Chris went on to buy all the CD roms in this series. You can't get a better endorsement than that.

Maths Key Stage Three Success Guide

I think this is the most colourful and innovative home revision book I have seen for Key Stage Three maths. It uses mind maps, quick fact boxes, lots of pictures and non-linear display techniques. I think they are trying to cover all learning styles so every student will connect with the materials (not just the ones who do well with traditional linear styles).

CD:ROM

The Times Education Series Maths Key Stage 3

We give this Europress CD:ROM a well deserved four stars. While it might not be as visually stunning as some other electronic offerings, the content is spot on, containing 50 numeracy topics and over 100 individual lessons. If you value whizzy graphics above everything, then you may not appreciate this product, but if well produced content that should really help your child understand is what you are really after, don't hesitate to choose this title.

Mind Maps for Kids: The Shortcut to Success at School

Mind-Mapping works just as well for kids as for adults. Tony Buzan's great book provides the 'magic formula' that allows so many people to boost their thinking abilities. We recommend this title for kids who will love the simplicity of this truly beneficial technique.
