Keystage One Practice

Key Stage One Maths

The seven elements of the national numeracy strategy are as follows.

  1. Using and applying mathematics
  2. Counting and understanding number
  3. Knowing and using number facts
  4. Calculating
  5. Understanding shape
  6. Measuring
  7. Handling data

All these areas are tackled in Key Stage 1 Maths. Using numbers, measures, pounds and pence, patterns matching and shape relationships, children learn about the mathematics that helps to describe the world around them.

There are a number of really useful quizzes (tests or assessments) to help us discover how well a child is doing in Key Stage 1 mathemantics. Both parents and teachers can use these to reward progress and highlight areas where extra work may be required.
