Ramipril

1.25mg ramipril dose

I was initially prescribed a dose of 1.25mg ramipril daily in April to combat high blood pressure.

After a week I was told to go for a liver kidney test to ensure the ace inhibitor wasn't messing with my body in unforseen ways.

I had been reading that a dry cough was a common side effect and the next day I found myself coughing a lot. However I told myself to 'shut up' figuring this to be a psychosematic effect and sure enough the coughing stopped and stayed stopped. I felt no ill effects but after a month the blood pressure was as high as ever. The dose was doubled.

2.5 mg ramipril dose

As before another kidney test and just as before nothing showed up. No side-effects from the ace inhibitor and I felt healthy. Ramipril should work by causing blood vessels to relax, lowering blood pressure and increasing the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart. However, after a month the doc said my blood pressure was even higher than before.

5 mg ramipril dose

Now I was moved up to 5mg which the doc says is the 'usual' dose for most people. I have been reading further and discovered that Ramapril is marketed as Altace in the United States. Thechemical name is something like ethoxycarbonylphenylpropylaminopropanoyloctahydrocyclopentapyrrole-2-carboxylic acid, which has to be good for you. Still have not side effects at all from this drug and I feel fit and healthy. Have been cycling and enjoying the summer.
