Greek Islands: Thassos

Thassos is an island of culture. It was the birthplace of the poet Sappho, of the writer Aesop and of the philosopher Aristotle.

Thassos is the most northerly island in the Aegean so the climate in high summer is a little more bareable than those further south. Close to the greek mainland, there are plenty of opportunities for visitors to the island to see a do a vast range of activities.

Thassos is a bit off the beaten tourist track and so has largely escaped exploitation by the big package operators. Authentic and charming are two key words that can be used to describe Thassos.

Green Island

Thassos is wonderful for walkers too. The interior is covered in dense woodland. The wildlife is incredible.
