Greek Islands: Folegandros
Folegandros is a small but charming greek island.
is a tiny island of just 600 inhabitants from three small villages.
Karavostasi, the Chora and Ano Meria are connected by a paved road.
Folegandros relies on fishing for its income and the general atmosphere is quiet. Folegandros can be reached by ferry boats departing from Piraeus throughout the year and additionally in summer other islands including Santorini, Ios and Naxos have a regular boat service.
The Hora at Folegandros has been described in the lonely planet guide to greece as one of the prettiest capitals in the cyclades. In Ano Meria ("upper part") there is a little folklore museum worth a snoop.
Many people come to Folegandros on painting holidays. Nude bathing has been an accepted fact on the secluded Ag Nikolaos beach at the end of the island of Folegandros for many years now.
Beaches on Folegandros
All are sandy. Ag Nikolaos beach and Agali beach are two of the best.
Reviews of Folegandros
Folegandros is wonderful!
Last year we stayed in F. The hotel was very near the harbour and surrounded by nice beaches. The island is very quiet and the main village is very nice. In the harbour every day is nice to be there.

Quiet time
Now that the hordes have gone, it is the perfect time to see Folegandros as it really is. Winter holidays in Greece are the best.
