Gerald Durrell's excellent book "My Family and Other Animals" is a brilliant choice for anyone, young or old who is visiting Corfu. The book is a memoir of his childhood on the island with an excentric cast of characters and a great evocation of the landscape and wildlife that inspired the young Gerald and led him into a lifetime of promoting conservation and protecting the natural world.
