Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling

ISBN: 0747575444

I am lumping together all the Harry Potter titles: 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets', Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban', 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire','Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' and 'Harry Potter and the half blood prince'

Rowling said that "Hermione is a bit like me when I was younger." I found the problem with reading Harry Potter is divorcing yourself from the hype and movies. If you manage to do this and just focus on Harry, Hermione, Ron Weasley, Dumbledore, he who cannot be named, plus a host of other characters you will see that thiese books are classics which deserve their rapid rise to a place of esteem in the cannon of children's literature.

We all know that sequels are rarely as good as the first book but with lots of adventures and an increasing complexity and darkness as the years progress and the central characters grow up, the Harry Potter books do not become fomulaic.
