Life on Air by David Attenborough
ISBN: 0563534613
This autobiography of the great naturalist focuses on his work. He doesn't
tell us much about his family life, preferring to skip childhood for the most
part and beginning with his first job as a broadcaster.
From a distinguished stint as controller of BBC2 to famously babysitting a wild Gorilla when it's mother dumped the baby on David's lap during filming, Attenborough's life is truly
fascinating. He has been a part of the evolution of british television and
has made a deep impact on wildlife presenting, having been the narrator and
presenter of landmark series such as Wildlife on One, life on Earth, The Living
planet and many others.
He is, it turns out, also a great writer. Attenborough's soft authoritative
yet playful tone permeates every page as he tells us of his adventures on
every continent.
This really is a good read for any nature lover or fan of the man himself.
