Buying a necktie as a gift is a good idea if the man is into his personal grooming.
If he even so much as owns a pair of jeans he probably will not be overly enthralled by the gift of a tie.
If you do decide to buy a necktie as a present, go conservative. Loud flashy ties rarely get worn very often. However, a classy silk tie will be treasured.
