In 2007 the educational publisher specialising in assessments nferNelson, changed its name to GL Assessment.

According to their website the name change came about because the formal relationship between nferNelson and the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) had come to an end. The NFER had previously been joint owners of nfer-nelson before selling the company to Granada Learning.
Nfer Nelson was perhaps best known for producing and selling the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT) test, a leading measure of pupil abilities for all ages.
What does the name change mean? Apparently very little. The company still trades from the same address and is still producing new assessments and also selling the long regarded assessments for which they gained such a good reputation.
