Dauer 962 LeMans

With 730.0 brake horsepower the Dauer 962 LeMans is fastest car off the line every time. Mind, you, getting in and out is a total pain. Described as an "earth-bound guided missile" the Dauer runs on a 2994cc water-cooled, twin-cam-per-bank, four-valves-per-cylinder Porsche flat-six engine. It has a better power-to weight ratio than a McLaren F1. A total monster of a car, which will cost you around half a million pounds stirling.

Supercars for 2006

The list of fast cars is a bone of contention. You may notice I am not including 'kit cars' in the listings here. This is because they are not standard vehicles and are really the individual projects of the owners. However, should the Maclaren F1 be included? Then there is the new Bugatti's Veyron 16.4.

This 16-cylinder monster has four turbos, giving 1001 horsepower running through a clutchless sequential 7-speed transmission. By using 'launch control' acceleration the Veyron will go from 0-60 in just 2.3 seconds. However, it isn't officially out till 2007 so the Veyron stays off the list until then.

The Bristol Fighter

At the end of 2005 a small British company that have been quietly producing a small range of top quality car for over 60 years announced the release of the amazing Bristol Fighter.

The Bristol fighter is blessed with stunning good looks, gull-wing doors and a wonderfully old fashioned interior, and it also happens to be the fastest front engined road car ever made. The Bristol Fighter S has a massive 8-litre V.10 engine and a massive £200,000 price tag to match.
