Can I freeze fresh potatoes?
The above question was recently emailed to me. The short answer is No!
The longer response to whether you can freeze potaotes is that they do not freeze well.
Whether we are talking about raw potatoes or potatoes in as soups and stews is that when you reheat them after freezing they generally disintegrate into a yukky mess.
Freezing Potatoes is not dangerous, but it simply yeilds a rather unpleasant result. Semicooked potatoes can be freeze dried but this requires specialist equipment.
So stick to fresh potatoes if at all possible.
Sorry, but unless anyone knows different, the answer to 'can i freeze potatoes'
is a resounding negative.
