Information on cabernet sauvignon grape

The Cabernet Sauvignon grape is, as its name suggests a french grape which produces one of the worlds most popular wines. It originally comes from the Medoc region but has been successfully grown in all wine growing countries.

Cabernet Sauvignon wine is a medium bodied red wine with a good strong flavour reminicient of herbs and berries when young . Some people say cabernet sauvignon has an aftertaste of fine tea.

A good Cabernet is aged in oak casks to add yet more comlexity to the flavour. As you buy different bottles, pay attention to the aging and find out what suits your pallette best. As a bottle of cabernet ages it loses some of the tannins and gains flavours reminicient of cherries, ginger, violets and even the sweet smell of a cigar box.

Cabernet Sauvignon is often blended with other wines to produce smooth, yet complex wines with lots of different flavours working in harmony.

For these reasons many people consider a bottle of good cabernet sauvignon wine as the king of red wines
