The Bible Belt
This is a slightly perjorative term for the midwestern and southern states in the United States where Evangelical Protestantism is a large part of the dominant culture.
The \"Bible Belt\" came about because these were parts of the United Statews where the european settlers had strong presbytarian roots in their original countries.
States withuin the \'bible belt\' range from virginia in the east, across to missouri, down to texas and all states below that line (excepting southern florida).
